AEA-V 40th Anniversary
This month marks the 40th Anniversary of the formation of the Ambulance Employees Australia – Victoria [AEA-V] on 19th May 1978.
The current Executive of the AEA-V congratulates its members on the achievements we have been able to accomplish over the past 40 years.
These achievements include, but are not limited to:
- A membership of over 4,100 members;
- Work value case for Paramedics;
- Enterprise Agreements for the majority of workers the Ambulance Industry;
- Ambulance Welfare Fund;
- Superannuation – currently seeking improvements of the ESSS Scheme;
- AEAV/BankVic Salary Income Protection Scheme;
- Professional indemnity insurance;
- Equal pay for women;
- Penalty rates;
- Meal allowances;
- Holidays with pay;
- Parental leave;
- Minimum award conditions;
- Wage Increases;
- Stopping the privatisation of the Ambulance Service;
- Improvement to Ambulance Servicing in Victoria;
- Increase in Paramedic numbers;
Members are reminded that I, Steve McGhie, will be retiring from the position of Secretary of the AEA-V and Danny Hill has been elected uncontested to the position of Secretary of the AEA-V and Ogla Bartasek has been elected uncontested to the position of Assistant Secretary of the AEA-V. These changes will take effect from Tuesday, 3rd July 2018.
I have enjoyed my 23 years with the AEAV. My involvement with the AEA-V began in 1993 when I became a Regional Shop steward. I have been AEAV General Secretary since 2005.
My thanks and appreciation to our members for all their support over the years.
I leave the AEAV confident in the knowledge that Danny and Olga will lead the AEAV to further achievements in the years ahead.
